Salary- Depending on Experience Kelly Scientific Resources is currently recruiting for a CLS General Supervisor. Under the general direction of the Laboratory Director, or their designee, the CLS General Supervisor will look over a small team of clinical lab aides and also perform pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical procedures and analyses at our client in Menlo Park. Duties and Responsibilities include: Manage and Train laboratory assistants on proper techniques/procedures related to clinical laboratory practice. Performs other duties as necessary Correctly verify that the proper specimens are being analyzed for the correct patients and that the correct test is being performed. Judges the adequacy and qualities of specimens submitted for testing. Analyzes clinical laboratory specimens following the standard methods and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director or designee. Performs quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data. Utilizes test reference ranges to determine reasonableness of test results. Validates test results through correlation with test parameters and QC metrics. Confirms testing on all Abnormal Values to ensure accuracy prior to releasing of test results. Performs routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Performs and documents instrument function by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data. Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment. Releases or reports results per Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures. Perform and document that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. Adhere to the laboratory s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Follow the laboratory s established Non-Conformance policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory s established acceptable levels of performance. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory s established performance specifications. Understand safety procedures relating to a laboratory to include handling of infectious biological agents as well as potentially hazardous chemicals; appropriate hazardous clean up procedures; universal precautions and infection control procedures. Requirements Current California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License is required Management or supervisory experience preferred Molecular Experience PCR and NGS are preferred Proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, if applicable, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens. The skills required for performing each test method and for proper instrument use. The skills required for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration procedures related to each test performed. A working knowledge of reagent stability and storage. The skills required to implement the quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory. An awareness of the factors that influence test results and the skills required to assess and verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control values before reporting patient test results.
