Job Description

Post-Doctoral Researchers (Energy & Environment)

General Summary
Southern Research is seeking Post-Doctoral Research Scientists and Engineers who desire to work at the leading edge of research related to energy and the environment.  Our team of scientists and engineers work across a broad range of science and technology areas, including: biofuels, biochemicals, sustainable chemistry, catalysis, resource (lithium, germanium, rare earth elements, carbon dioxide, nutrients, waste heat) recovery, generation IV nuclear power (e.g. molten salt reactors), food-water-energy system research, fertilizer product development, renewable energy, and energy storage (electrical, chemical, and thermal).

As a Postdoctoral Research Scientist or Engineer, you will function as part of a technology team, utilizing your technical knowledge to develop and evaluate new technology concepts via conducting experiments, developing engineering models, analyzing data, writing reports, and communicating results internally and externally.  You will be part of a team focused on turning research concepts into commercially viable products and processes.  This effort may involve participation in pilot and commercial scale demonstrations and transfer of the technology to external partners.  You will be counted on to address the inevitable challenges to go along with developing new technologies and your work will require creativity, idea generation, problem solving and decision making.

Candidates must have a strong work ethic, work well in team environments, and conduct their work in a safe and efficient manner.  The Post-Doctoral Researcher positions will be located in Durham, NC, Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL depending on business needs.
